www.newsindiatimes.com – that’s all you need to know Trump Adds Tulsi Gabbard, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. To Transition Team F ormer president Donald Trump announced Tues- day he has added Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard to his transition team, giving key roles to two former Democrats who endorsed his comeback campaign in recent days. “As President Trump’s broad coalition of support- ers and endorsers expands across partisan lines, we are proud that Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Tulsi Gabbard have been added to the Trump/Vance Transition team,” Trump campaign senior adviser Brian Hughes said in a state- ment. “We look forward to having their powerful voices on the team was we work to restore America’s greatness.” The NewYork Times first reported the news. The announcement comes as Trump is looking to display support from beyond the Republican Party with a little over two months until the election. Democrats sought to show cross-party support at their national con- vention last week in Chicago, which featured speeches by former Rep. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.) and former Georgia lieutenant governor Geoff Duncan (R). The news about the transition team also arrived a day after an interview was released where Kennedy said he had been recruited to help with preparing for a possible second Trump term. “We’re working on policy issues together,” Kennedy said in the interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. “I’ve been asked to come onto the transition team, to help pick the people who will be running the government.” Trump first announced the transition team on Aug. 16, tapping as co-chairs theWall Street executive Howard Lutnick and Linda McMahon, administrator of the Small Business Administration under Trump. The honorary co- chairs are Trump’s running mate, Sen. JDVance (R-Ohio), and two of the former president’s sons, Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump. Kennedy ended his independent presidential cam- paign on Friday and endorsed Trump, appearing along- side him at an evening rally in the Phoenix area. The Washington Post previously reported that Kennedy had talked with Trump about a possible role in his admin- istration if he wins the November election. Trump has publicly said he would consider it. Gabbard, a former Democratic congresswoman from Hawaii, backed Trump during a joint appearance Mon- day in Detroit. She ran for the Democratic presidential nomination in 2020 but left the party two years later and has since grown more politically aligned with Trump. Gabbard is set to campaign with Trump on Thursday inWisconsin. The Democratic National Committee seized on Kenne- dy’s comments to Carlson about being asked to help with Trump’s transition. DNC adviser Mary Beth Cahill said in a statement that the idea of Kennedy “being anywhere near a second Trump admin. should terrify you.” “In the four days since he endorsed Trump, RFK Jr. has spent his time tweeting about chemtrails and dodging questions about illegally sawing off a dead whale’s head,” Cahill said in a Tuesday statement. “Normal candidates would run from a surrogate like this, but desperate men do desperate things.” -TheWashington Post By Patrick Svitek Photo:Screengrab fromvideo on x @TulsiGabbard Tulsi Gabbard announcing her joining Trump transition team on August 26, 2024. M ore than 25,000 Indian Americans have responded to a call for registration for passes to a Community Reception for Prime Min- ister Narendra Modi on Sunday, September 22, 2024 at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NewYork. Organized by the Indo American Community of USA, a broad group of US-based ‘Welcome Partner Organiza- tions ‘and hundreds of local volunteers, the event is al- ready exciting a lot of emotions among Indian Americans, according to organizers. 560 organizations from 42 states across the U.S. have signed up with the Indo American Community of USA (IACU) to send in their members to the reception. Of these 300 are from the NewYork and New Jersey area, said Dr. Avinash Gupta, president of Tristate Federation of Indian Associations to News India Times in a telephone interview. Organizing this huge event has taken a lot of pre- planning, Gupta said. Each organization has been given an individual code and the registration requires email address of each person and their phone number. Gupta said it is going to be a thorough process of checking the confirmations of persons really attending after which they will be given the passes. They will have to go through a security check at the entrance where they will have to present an Id. It will be a requirement for their names to match with the registra- tion names, Gupta added. Each person will be assigned a seat at the gate. He said the Coliseum has 13,500 capacity whereas the registration is almost double that capacity as of August 29, 2024. A 90-minute cultural program showcasing the diversity of India is also planned for the morning, before Modi’s arrival. Gupta said he had attended the 2014 reception at the Madison Square Garden. “It was overwhelming. Many local elected officials attended it. There was a lot of excitement,” Gupta said. Community members who have attended the 2014 reception said it was an event of a lifetime. He also remembered the 2019 ‘Howdy Modi’ reception which was attended by current Presidential candidate Donald Trump. “That time, the community response included so much pride,” Gupta said. He said this year, due to the elections being round the corner, none of the candidates can come to the event. The theme of this year’s reception is ‘Vasudhaiwa Kutumbakam” meaning the whole earth is one dwelling for all, and is highlighted by a quote of Modi – “We are committed to furthering not just our wellbeing, but that of the world’s. Our civilizational heritage of ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’ calls upon us to build a better world to- gether because we are one earth, one family, one future.” The Indo American Community of USA (IACU), an east coast chapter of Indo American Community ofWest Coast, aims to promote understanding of and unity within the Indo-American community through cultural events and public programs. A 501 ( c) non profit, it also conducts educational and health programs in India and around the world and is the sponsor of the September 22, 2024 reception. There is unconfirmed news of Indian opposition lead- er Rahul Gandhi visiting the U.S, particularly NewYork andWashington, D.C., in the second week of September, before the reception and before Modi’s address at the United Nations General Assembly. “It will be interesting to see,” said Gupta.
