Ro Khanna Appointed Ranking Member Of The House Select Committee On China R epresentative Ro Khanna (CA-17) released the following statement on his appointment as Rank- ing Member of the United States House Select Committee on Strategic Competition between the United States and the Chinese Communist Party: “I am grateful to Leader Hakeem Jeffries for entrusting me to lead the Democrats on the committee, and to Representative Raja Krishnamoorthi for his dedication and leadership as Ranking Member for the past three years. I recognize the gravity of this moment. For decades, Americans have suffered the consequences of unfettered globalism— a widening trade deficit with China, the off- shoring of jobs, and the hollowing out of factory towns. A new economic patriotism must be at the forefront of our diplomacy with China. We need an economic and strategic reset to build critical industries at home, open lines of communication, prioritize effective military deterrence, and tackle the opioid crisis that has torn families and communities apart. We also need a Man- hattan Project to source and process criti- cal minerals so that we are not dependent on China for rare earths and magnets. As Ranking Member, I will be committed to strengthening our economy, revitalizing manufacturing, and putting American workers first. Together with the members of our committee, technology leaders in places like my district, in Silicon Valley, we can ensure that we lead in AI and innova- tion in the 21st century and guarantee economic security and prosperity for the American people.” Press Release PHOTOS:courtesyDr.Shukla Congressman Ro Khanna. D emocratic candidate for Con- gress Dr. Tina Shah, a former Biden and Obama administra- tion official, announced January 6, 2026, that she ended 2025 crossing the million-dollar threshold, raising $1,017,000, and becoming the fastest NJ- 07 Democratic candidate to this bench- mark. Shah is one of 8 Democrats vying for the party’s endorsement. The date for the Democratic primary is yet to be decided. Shah has been endorsed by the Indian American Impact Fund, a leading PAC fo- cused on the community up and down the ballot, from school boards to Congress. Her campaign called that achievement an indication of Dr. Shah’s momentum and one which “establishes her as the top candidate to defeat Republican incum- bent Tom Kean Jr. in one of the most com- petitive races in the country this year.” Shah enters 2026 with nearly $650,000 on hand, according to her campaign. The latest filing with the Federal Election Commission is not yet available (fec.gov), as of this report. Kean, who was elected to the US House of Representatives in 2023, is an attorney and former New Jersey State Assembly member. “I am so proud of the support our campaign has earned,” said Dr. Shah. “We need a representative who will lower costs for working families, protect reproductive rights, and ensure everyone has access to high-quality healthcare. New Jersey- ans are demanding leaders who will put patients over industry profits.” The Cook Political Report, a lead- ing rating agency, has made NJ-07 a top “toss-up” district race in the nation come November 3, 2026. Dr. Shah is an intensive care doctor, a triple board-certified physician, has served under three presidential adminis- trations, developing strategies to expand access to healthcare to veterans and lead- ing the first federal plan to combat the burnout that drove doctors and nurses out of the field. tion that the Raj Goyle for NewYork campaign is gaining strong momentum,” organizers added.
