The event was hosted by GSSC & IASH, a press release said. Chairman B U Patel, Manu Shah, Suru Manek, Jagdish Purohit, Rajendra Vora, Ex Mayor Naresh Solanki, Hark Vasa, Dr Nitin Shah, Dr Anil Shah, Pramod Mistry, Parimal Shah, Nalini Solanki, Chatur Pa- tel, Yogi Patel, Jay Joshi attended to honor Dr Patel. Dr Bharat Patel was recognized for his service to the needy. He with his col- leagues from ALAPIO physicians of Indian origin have been performing free surger- ies and holding free clinics in Southern California for last 20 years. Apart from his medical practice Dr Patel is a prominent investment advisor, a standup comedian and a great philan- thropist. After honoring Dr Patel, Jain Social Group Beverly Hills Founder & President Rajendra Vora’s question to the honoree was about how he feels receiving the awards. Dr Patel replied “this will encourage me to do even more free surgeries and other activities.” He also said he will promote more mega entertainment shows to raise more money for free surgeries.” T he Federation of Indian Associations (FIA) Chi- cago hosted a vibrant Holi celebration April 12 at the Mall of India, bringing together community leaders, performers and families in a colorful display of culture and unity. The event, led by Founder Chairman Sunil Shah along with Presidents Altaf Bukhari and Richa Chand, showcased traditional and contemporary performances, drawing a diverse audience from across the region. The program opened with remarks from Shah, who welcomed Somnath Ghosh. Ghosh praised FIA’s contin- ued efforts to promote Indian heritage in the United States. Local dignitaries, including Shweta Baid and Larry Herman, highlighted the importance of cultural events in fostering community connec- tions. Emcees Chand and Munish Kaistha led the program, which featured dance and music performances frommultiple groups, including Suhani Dance Academy, Shirlzaar Dance Academy and Sapphire Dance Group. Vocalists and performers added to the festive atmosphere, while DJs Mahesh and Sarita maintained high energy throughout the event. A highlight of the celebration was the appearance of Bollywood actor Riya Sen, who presented certificates to performers and recognized community supporters. Sen commended the talent and enthu- siasm of participants, noting the strong cultural spirit reflected in the event. Organizers credited the success of the program to a large volunteer base, referred to as the “FIA Rockstar Team,” along with past presidents and commu- nity contributors who supported logis- tics, stage design and coordination. The celebration concluded outdoors with a large ceremonial color display, symbolizing unity and shared heritage. Organizers thanked sponsors and com- munity partners for their support and announced upcoming events, including a Mother’s Day celebration in May and a larger summer programmarking India’s 80th and the United States’ 250th inde- pendence milestones. FIA Chicago officials said the Holi event underscored the organization’s mission to preserve cultural traditions while building a strong and inclusive community in the United States.
