In a post on X, the Department noted that the agree- ment was finalized following a bilateral meeting between US Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick and Union Minister of State for Commerce and Industry Jitin Prasa- da on the sidelines of the G20 Innovation Ministerial. “Secretary Lutnick met with Indian Minister of State for Commerce Jitin Prasada on the sidelines of the G20 Innovation Ministerial to discuss the future of 6G. Today, we are pleased to announce that India has joined the U.S. and 24 other countries in the effort to ensure that next generation networks reflect our shared security interests, strengthen our competitiveness, and drive innovation in 6G,” the US Department of Commerce wrote. This comes as Union Minister of State (MoS) Jitin Prasada led the Indian delegation at the G20 Innovation Ministers’ meeting held on September 1 and Septem- ber 2 in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, hosted by the US Department of Commerce and theWhite House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP). According to the Ministry of Electronics and IT, Prasada was accompanied by Ajit Kumar, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Me- itY), senior officials fromMeitY, Department of Science and Technology (DST) and Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), as well as officials of the Embassy of India in the US. At the conclusion of the Ministerial, the G20 Ministers released the Innovation Ministerial Statement recognis- ing that “emerging technologies have the potential to unlock prosperity, enhance productivity, and expand opportunity for all our peoples.” On the sidelines of the G20 Ministerial, Prasada held several bilateral discussions. In the bilateral discussion with Lutnick, both sides exchanged views on strengthening cooperation across Semiconductors, AI and Data Centers. During the meeting, MoS also encouraged the possibility of more US investments in ISM2.0, proposed strengthening AI technology partnership and shared a mechanism for safeguards for AI. Highlighting his meeting with Lutnick, Prasada wrote in a post on X that the discussion centred on advancing critical sectors that form the foundation of the modern technological landscape. “Semiconductors. AI. Data centres. These are criti- cal building blocks of the emerging digital economy,” Prasada stated on X. He further noted that both sides examined avenues to deepen practical collaboration. “In my bilateral discussion with Mr. Howard Lut- nick, US Secretary of Commerce, we exchanged views on strengthening cooperation across these areas and advancing technology-led opportunities between India and the United States,” he added. “Thanked the US G20 Presidency for the warm hospitality.” - ANI Ambassador Gor Launches TRUST Fellowship, Champions India-US Partnership U nited States Ambassador Sergio Gor marked the 250th anniversary of American independence at the US Mission’s National Day reception in Bengaluru on Sunday, September 6, using the occasion to launch the TRUST Fellowship and reaffirm the Trump Administration’s focus on delivering tangible results for American workers and businesses through the bilateral partnership, an official release noted. Ambassador Gor told guests, “Every week our embassy strives to deliver real results. The limitless potential with India is real, and we are working tirelessly to deliver tan- gible outcomes.” The TRUST Fellowship, a new public-private partner- ship aims at bringing together top American and Indian researchers to advance work in critical technologies in- cluding artificial intelligence, semiconductors, quantum computing, and biotechnology, the release said. The Fellowship’s private benefactors include Kris Go- palakrishnan (Pratithi Investments) and Kiran Mazum- dar-Shaw (Mazumdar-Shaw Philanthropy), in partner- ship with the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT-M), the Indian Institute of Science Bengaluru (IISc), and Manipal Academy of Higher Education (MAHE). That is precisely what this expansion delivers. It means more American exports. It means more American jobs. And it means American companies taking a direct stake in Bengaluru’s growth engine.” Gor pointed to India-US cooperation in space as a marker of the partnership’s ambition, citing recent joint missions and ongoing discussions between the two coun- tries’ space agencies on lunar exploration. “That tells you everything about where this partnership is headed: bigger, bolder, and more ambitious,” he said. Across Bengaluru, iconic buildings were illuminated in red, white, and blue to mark the occasion, includ- ing the Vidhana Soudha, the Indian Institute of Science main building, ITC Gardenia, the State Central Library in Cubbon Park, Boeing, and Collins Aerospace, the press release said. The evening also featured cultural and culinary celebrations. Christ University students performed the Indian and U.S. national anthems, and the U.S. Foreign Agricultural Service showcased American cuisine and agricultural products, with the reception featuring dishes prepared with American apples, cranberries, pecans, and pistachios.
